Meat the team
Purpose of Sunday School: Sunday School is an exciting opportunity and method to teach children about the things of God through the teaching and illustration of Bible stories. This not only helps to bring the scriptures alive but also lays down the foundational truths of the gospel.
While parents enjoy the Sunday morning service, a team of dedicated leaders will be teaching the children Bible stories in a simple manner using an interactive approach, visual aids, puppets and other really fun methods. The Sunday School is located within our new facility in the church and is for all primary school aged children.
Learn and remember: Teaching children about the stories of the Bible is important and to encourage them to remember these, a Bible verse is presented to them at the end of the class each week for them to learn for the following week.
Mission Statement: The Lord Jesus himself placed a great importance on children and training them for future and this is the centre of the vision for the Peoples Church Sunday School.
Our mission is: To bring salvation to the children of Falkirk and surrounding areas through the Word of God and to train them to be people of God in the nation
- Times / Location: The Sunday School will run every week from mid August until the end of June.
- Registration is available from 11.30 with an 11.45am start for lessons. The class will finish at 12.30pm.
- Place: Peoples Church, West Bridge Street, Falkirk, FK1 5RJ.
News & Recent Events: The Sunday School team and members of the congregation have been raising funds recently to purchase a smartboard. This equipment will enhance the teaching methods but the message of the gospel will remain the same. Recent events included: sponsored cycle; sponsored Munro hillwalk; Bible quiz; jumble sale; homebaking sale (products made by the children themselves).
The New Session: The Sunday School classes will recommence on the 25th August. Stories which will be taught during the first few weeks of the new session are:
Jesus blesses the children (Matthew 19 vs 13-15)
Rescue and run (Exodus 2 vs 1-25)
Holy ground (Exodus 3 vs 1-4)
Sacrificial lamb (Exodus 11 vs 1-12)
The great escape (Exodus 14 vs 1-31)
Everlasting love (Psalm 136 vs 1-9)
Forth Coming Events: This session will see the introduction of percussion instruments into the songs that the children sing. The children will be rehearsing new songs and learning how to play percussion instruments before performing on stage in front of the congregation. Percussion instruments are an addition to the existing recorder group who practice every week and have performed on stage at Christmas and at our prize-giving events. Plans are in place to attend the Pantomime again this year just before Christmas. The children (and the adults!) have thoroughly enjoyed this treat over the last couple of years. Christmas Nativity presentation – the congregation have enjoyed the children’s presentation of the Christmas story. Each year sees the emergence of new talents and stars in the making!
Competitions: Throughout the session, children are challenged on a Bible competition. Last session’s competition on remembering the Books of the Bible was very successful and the winners enjoyed their prizes!
